Introducing Athena -Botanical Lager in support of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Blue Owl Brewing is excited to announce the release of Athena Botanical Lager in 16oz cans. After last year’s taproom-exclusive launch, Athena quickly became a fan favorite — this year, she’s officially canned and ready to fly beyond our taproom walls.
Brewed in honor of Athena, the beloved resident owl at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, this lager is rooted in the spirit of Texas in full bloom. It’s bright, thoughtful, and brewed with purpose. Athena holds a special place in our hearts—fun fact: Blue Owl Brewing’s logo is a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus), just like her! She’s nested at the Wildflower Center’s entrance for over 15 years, welcoming guests the way we hope to welcome you with every pour at our taproom. Brewing a beer in her honor (and alongside our friends at the Wildflower Center) just felt right. Birds of a feather, you know?
A portion of proceeds will support the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the preservation of native plants and the habitats they sustain, because protecting wild spaces feels just as important as crafting great beer.
This easy-drinking floral lager beer is brewed with elderflower, ginger, and hibiscus at 4.0% ABV. Expect a stunning ruby hue from the hibiscus, a fragrant floral aroma, all tied together with a gentle yet spicy ginger finish.
You can find 16oz. cans of Athena at Blue Owl Brewing’s taproom and at the Wildflower Center, with hopes of expanding distribution across Texas in the near future. Keep your eyes peeled — this one’s special.
